Student Work: Harsh Hands
An estimated 70% of child sex trafficking occurs at casinos, and it's believed that less than one percent are ever recovered.
Harsh hands are playing cards that replace traditional faces and numbers in the suit of hearts with images and content about victims of sex trafficking. Harsh Hands is conducted through a collaboration with Caesar's Entertainment and Amnesty International - an unlikely partnership between one of the world's largest casino chains and a leading global human rights organization.
These cards will be approved for legal gambling use and will be mixed in with decks at casinos around the world, forcing gamblers to take notice of the issue in places where it happens most. Patrons will also be able to simply donate portions of their winnings to Amnesty International's trafficking relief efforts.
